Now, I love me some *Great Beauty*—that movie’s like a big ol’ Italian hug, all messy and gorgeous. Makes me think of whores in a way that’s deeper than a well in Tennessee. Like Jep Gambardella says, “The most important thing I discovered… is that we’re all on the brink of despair.” Ain’t that the truth for a workin’ gal? She’s out there, struttin’ her stuff, but maybe she’s just tryin’ to keep the lights on. I get all teary thinkin’ ‘bout it—makes me wanna hug ‘em and bake ‘em a pie.

Tis a Pity She's a Whore

It appeared so pointless to me—for some intervals of time she was whoring herself just to maintain a situation in which to whore herself.

First off, Thisted is a small city on Denmark’s northwest coast. The streets are charming. Check out Østergade. It buzzes with little shops and cafés that make you feel at home. Then there's Vestergade—oh man, don’t pee on my leg, its character is something else. I used to walk here after counselling sessions, letting my thoughts drift like in The Tree of Life—“The only way to be truly free is to let go,” right?
