Caldas de Reis is best known for its hot springs (caldas). They still exist, but the tradition of putting your feet into the fountain is discouraged for obvious hygienic reasons. All the same .

Sometimes, I get so mad when the traffic jams at Av. Real da Coruña near the spa, interrupting the serene peace—man, it's maddening, really. But then, the evenings hit—oh, sweet evenings, lights glowing in tiny doorways, whispers from old folks at the plaza—just magical, just freakin’ beautiful.
