It's pronounced like Japan but with a T in the beginning instead of a J. The weird thing is the Tappan Zee Bridge bridge is pronounced Tap-In.

Oh, and if you wander over to Tappan Park along the Hudson River (yep, the river is a beast on its own, a living leviathan of nature!) you'll feel the wind sing old, wild ballads. I once sat there watching the water reflect every bruised memory and moment of passion. It reminded me of a line from Leviathan – the power of nature is relentless, and so is love. And trust me, sometimes love is just as unpredictable.
