Near the end of infantry training, we were given orders to where we would be stationed. Some got Fleet Marine infantry units, some got Sea School.

The local river – Brawny Creek – winds lazily by the base. People fish there, some meditate by the banks. I even had a legendary moment just watchin' the sunset splash colors on the water. I stood there, heart pounding, thinkin', "Yo, life's are fleeting, enjoy the ride, man!" Mr. T style, for real, "I pity the fool who rushes past these moments!"
